Literary journal Meat for Tea is celebrating the 14th anniversary of the magazines with a gala event, Le Cirque des Tartes, on March 7, 2020, 7 pm – 12 am at Sonelab, 142 Pleasant Street, Easthampton, MA. The extravaganza will feature art, film, standup comedy, music, and, of course, spoken word. Admission is $5.

This week two organizations affiliated with WriteAngles, Inc. are hosting exciting events.

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 6-7:30 p.m. Meat for Tea, a literary journal with a table at WA’s 2019 writers’ fair, will present an author reading with Andrew Varnon at the Emily Williston Memorial Library, 9 Park Street, Easthampton, MA. Meat for Tea published Andrew Varnon’s essay “The Other Side of the Net” in which he imagined playing tennis with the ghost of David Foster Wallace, author of the monumental novel Infinite Jest. The event is free and open to the public.

Saturday, Nov. 2, 7 p.m., Voices from Inside, a former WA grant recipient, presents “What Our Voices Carry,” an original play by at Shea Theater, 71, Avenue A, Turners, Falls, MA. Written in conjunction with local author Trenda Loftin, the play aims to encourage the audience to confront the human costs of US incarceration policies, dearth of social and health services and response to the current opioid crisis. Discussion following the show. Tickets sliding scale $10-$20 online at https://sheatheater.org.
