We envision opportunities to explore writing as a tool for resilience, justice, and forging connections in our era of cultural and personal polarization, fear, and repression.
Straw Dog Writers Guild, a local 501(c)(3) literary organization (EIN 45-3362297), through continued community support, is excited to announce the 2025 WriteAngles Conference. The Guild’s second annual event, a revival of a conference that served western Massachusetts writers for over 30 years canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, is Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Greenfield Community College.
This year, the conference theme, inspired by Tiffany Yates Martin, is Through the Thicket of Thorns: Stories Grow.
It includes a keynote speaker of national note whose work supports the theme. The day-long event offers programming for writers at all levels of development and opportunities to meet with literary agents.
We are committed to being a conference by writers for all writers, irrespective of income, in the vibrant literary region of western Massachusetts. In line with the mission of the Straw Dog Writers Guild, invited presenters represent a diversity of age, race/ethnicity, and gender identity. Presenters will receive an honorarium for their work, and a generous scholarship program will allow lower-income individuals to participate.
Your unrestricted donation to the 2025 WriteAngles Conference will assist writers currently struggling to support their writing lives. Last year, we received significant requests for scholarships, and through your generosity, we underwrote over $5,000 in registration fees. Would you consider renewing your support with a gift today?
We offer six tiers of sponsorship opportunities, each named for a Massachusetts author who continues to inspire writers. Each level provides unique recognition for our sponsors. You may prefer to be less visible, anonymous, or offer a donation in tribute.
