Organized by the Straw Dog Writers Guild, this annual event is a cornerstone of the Western Massachusetts literary scene, offering a day of inspiration, learning, and community for writers at all levels.

Keynote Speaker: Franny Choi

This year’s keynote address will be delivered by poet and essayist Franny Choi. Choi is the author of The World Keeps Ending, and the World Goes On (Ecco/HarperCollins, 2022), Soft Science (Alice James Books, 2019), and Floating, Brilliant, Gone (Write Bloody Publishing, 2014). Their work has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, and The Paris Review. Choi is a recipient of the Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship, Princeton’s Holmes National Poetry Prize, and the Elgin Award. They currently teach literature at Bennington College and are working on an essay collection about Asian robot women, forthcoming from Ecco.

Agent Meetings

The conference offers 15-minute meetings with literary agents, available both virtually and in person for an additional fee. Virtual meetings will occur via Zoom in the week leading up to the conference, while in-person meetings will take place during the event. These sessions provide attendees with the opportunity to receive feedback on their work and guidance on navigating the publishing industry.

The conference also offers various sponsorship opportunities, with six tiers named after notable Massachusetts authors, ranging from $250 to $10,000+. Sponsorships help support scholarships and ensure the event remains accessible to a diverse range of writers.
